  • Lowering the resolution of the game is one way of preventing screen tearing.
  • Activating the hardware acceleration can improve the video playback which in turn can reduce screen tearing.
  • In different games there is the option of turning on v-sync, this must always be turned on. It will  coordinate the refresh rate of the GPU with that of the monitor.
  • Then there is the obvious and the most easy solution of upgrading your GPU so that it can keep with the monitors refresh rate.
  • As screen or video tearing depends on monitor and GPU, multiple buffering is a common solution that can be used as a means of fixing screen tearing.
  • Technologies such as Free sync and g-sync make improvements to the displays refresh rate. This sort of thing requires error free support from both the GPU and the monitor.
  • One can also use a weak monitor just to sync with the monitor but most people choose to upgrade the GPU rather than using weak monitors and that is more logical too.
  • Screen tearing can also be done from the Nvidia Control panel or from the AMD Vision Engine Control Center. Both will achieve the same result.
